Description:
Cholesterol is a membrane constituent which serves a unique function of modulating membrane fluidity, elasticity, and permeability. It fills in the gaps created by packing of other lipid species when proteins are embedded in the membrane. PEGylated cholesterol as an amphiphilic lipid derivative can be used to prepare liposome and other micelles as drug delivery systems. In addition to mPEG-cholesterol, reactive or dye labeled PEG-cholesterol reagents may be offered through custom synthesis with a short turnaround. The list may include: Amine-PEG-Cholesterol, Maleimide-PEG-Cholesterol, FITC-PEG-Cholesterol, Biotin-PEG-Cholesterol, and NHS-PEG-Cholesterol etc. Cholesterol is attached to PEG through a stable amide bond.
